Tour Summary

This 5 day “Old school” style mountain bike tour visits the best mtb tracks of the wild west coast of Tasmania. Ride awesome tracks like the Sterling Valley epic ride or the fun Montezuma Falls track as well as many other cool tracks. See wildlife, ride by waterfalls, gaze at mountain views as far as the eye can see, stay in old mining towns and see the most amazing wilderness scenery ever on this real wild adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1Hobart (A) to Queenstown (B)

Our adventure begins with a 3 hour drive over to the west coast so we can get set up for the next 5 days of awesome fun. We stop along the way for morning tea. Once we arrive at Queenstown we will set up bikes, have lunch and do our first ride (20km) the Mt Huxley track. After a nice climb it becomes a free flowing descent down a combination of 4WD track and fire trail, a very fast way to lose 300m of elevation. Astounding views from the top, Frenchman’s Cap on one side and the coast on the other. Dinner at restaurant.

Day 2Queenstown (B) Day Trip

No packing up today just leave your bags in room as today we really crank up things with a 1 hour drive before you ride (25km) along the awesome, fun Montezuma Falls MTB track. The route follows an old railway line through some beautiful forests to the 114m Montezuma Falls. After a well earn’t lunch break we drive a short way and ride (3km) along the short but fun downhill Tunnel Hill track. Then its back to Queenstown for a cold beer and do it again the next day. Dinner at restaurant.

Day 3Queenstown (B) Day trip

No packing up again today just leave your bags in room as today we head to Rosebery were we will be doing the awesome and one of the best mtb tracks on the west coast, the Sterling Valley track. Enjoy a lunch break before we drive a short to the start of the Lake Spicer track for a ride (28km) out and back to this remote lake. Once backlist back on the bus and back to Queenstown for a well learnt beer and feed. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 4Queenstown (B) to Corinna (E)

Today we leave Queenstown and head to the small private “off the grid” town of Corinna deep in the Tarkine wilderness. First we drive to Zeehan and then onto Trial Harbour were we will have morning tea and I look at the wild beach. We then back a few km to the start of the Climies track were you will ride (20km) all the way to Granville along this remote coastal track. At Granville Harbour we will have lunch then bus it to Corinna. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 5Corrina (E) to Launceston (F)

As you awake on your last day of this amazing adventure today we still have 2 great rides to finish with. After a short drive we ride (10km) up and back on the awesome MT Donaldson track. Once at the summit you get spectacular views of the Tarkine wilderness and then ride the amazing descent all the way back down, wow it it fun. Once back at the bus we enjoy morning tea before we drive to the mining town of Waratah were we will ride the (28km) loop on the Magnet Mine track. This track includes the Philosopher Falls track. Enjoy the short walk to the falls along the way. Lunch at Waratah before we drive back to Launceston and complete what has been 5 amazing days.
