Wow, were do we start. This amazing easy grade 7 day mountain bike touring tour visits the scenic east coast of Tasmania. The tour starts in Hobart and heads out to the spectacular cliffs of the Port Arthur region before heading up the scenic and peaceful coastline to the tranquil pure white sand beaches of the “Bay of Fires” before heading back inland and finishing at Launceston. See a huge variety of scenery, fantastic riding, enjoy short walks, swim in the sea and the great accommodation and yummy meals all provided on this not to be missed mtb adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 Hobart (A) to Port Arthur (B)

Depart Hobart and drive out of the city to Eaglehawk Neck were we will enjoy morning tea at Pirates Bay by the beach. Set up bikes and guests will ride (50 km) out to the rarely visited and remote Lime Bay along the scenic Norfolk Bay road. Enjoy lunch and a stroll along the beach before we drive back to our accomodation at Port Arthur for 2 nights. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 2Port Arthur (B) day trip

After breakfast guests jump on the bikes and cycle (20km) out to Fortescue Bay were we will have morning tea before doing the amazing walk out to the spectacular Cape Hauy. On our return we will enjoy lunch by the beach before an optional ride (20 km) back to our accomodation or catch the bus and enjoy a couple of hours off to relax or explore. Dinner in Restaurant.

Day 3Port Arthur (B) to Swansea (C)

Today we head up the coast to Swansea. First we drive to the start of the Wielangta Forest were guests will ride (40km) along this scenic drive with a morning tea break along the way. After a break guests continue riding all the way to the coast and to Orford were we will be enjoying a lunch break by the beach. After lunch we drive for a bit to the Eastern Tiers Forest Reserve were guests are dropped off for a ride (40 km) along scenic ridges with views of the coast. Guests are picked up and driven the short distance to our nights accomodation at Swansea. Dinner in town.

Day 4Swansea (C) to St Helens (D)

Today we have a rest day from the bikes and time is given to really experience some of this coasts other activities and natural beauty. Guests have the option of a number of extra activities, 1/2 day boat cruise to Wineglass Bay, 1/2 day guided sea kayak tour or you are able to just relax around the town and do your own thing. We will need to depart at 3pm for a drive to our next 2 nights accomodation at St Helens. Dinner is “pizza night”.

Day 5St Helens (D) day trip

No packing up today as we do a day trip to the amazing Bay of Fires (E). Guests will ride (25km) out to the southern end of the bay were we will enjoy morning tea. Go for a stroll along the pure white sands with its striking “red” colour rocks, this is were the name “Bay of Fires” comes from. After morning tea guests jump back on the bikes and ride (30km) to the northern end of the bay were we will have lunch before we head back to our accommodation after a magic day. Dinner is “BBQ night”.

Day 6St Helens (D) to Branxholm (F)

After a fantastic few days traveling up the east coast today we head inland. We first drive to the the little dairy town of Pyengena deep in the lush hills were we will be visiting the butter factory and its cafe for a coffee and a look at this old diary. After morning tea guests will jump on the bikes and ride (46km) past St Columbus Falls, Cashes Gorge and Ralph’s Falls all the way to Ringarooma were you will enjoy lunch break. After lunch guests ride (12km) to our nights accommodation at the old pub in Branxholm. Dinner at pub.

Day 7Branxholm (F) to Launceston (G)

After your last breakfast we jump on the bus for a short drive to the start of the “NE Rail Trail” and ride (26km) into Scottsdale were we will enjoy morning tea and a quick look around the town. For our last ride of the tour guests ride (8km) up and back to Mt Stronach this ride is a bit tougher then previous rides but after 6 days on the bike you are now super human, lol. Once back at Scottsdale we will enjoy a final lunch before we pack up the bikes and he’d back to Launceston for the finish of this amazing 7 day tour.
