General Tour Info

What sort of tours do we offer

We specialise in providing day and multi day mountain bike tours from easy fun touring tours to epic downhill/single track tours. We cater for the mountain bike enthusiasts right through to the advanced downhill riders.

What sort of support vehicle do we travel in

We use modern comfortable Toyota commuter mini bus’s for our tours. They are comfy, have plenty of room and air conditioned.

Where are the bikes stored

We tow a purpose built mountain bike trailer that holds the bikes securely and has very easy side access for getting your MTB on and off efficiently and safely

What distances do we ride each day

– On our touring tours your days cycling is broken up into 2 main rides, One long ride in the morning from 30-60 km then one ride in the afternoon of about 20-30 km. Both are optional.
– On our downhill/single track tours you get to ride as many trails as we can fit in a day with morning tea and lunch breaks in between.

Can you get on the bus if you are tired

You sure can. One of the our unique points with our touring tours is that we let you cycle at your own distance and own pace. As soon as you have had enough you just pull over and wait for the support bus and get in. Cycling is not mandatory. You decide how far to ride. It is the same for our downhill/single track tours rides are optional.

What time do we get up

Usually we get up around 7:00 am to make the most of the great morning conditions. We need plenty of time to enjoy the days activity at a nice enjoyable balanced pace.

What skill/experience is needed

Because we offer varying tours to suit both the novice cyclist and the full on experienced downhill rider the skill and experience levels needed vary a lot. We rate each of our tours for the the level needed. Don’t worry if your not fit you can still have fun and we will be there to support you.

Tour Bookings

How do I book a tour

Its simple, once you find your ideal tour, simply click on the blue booking button and fill out the easy, quick and secure online booking form.

Do I get booking confirmation

When you a book tour with us you will receive an email confirming your booking. If you paid a deposit or full amount at the time of booking then your booking is automatically approved. But if you decide to pay later via direct bank transfer then your booking is not approved until the deposit funds have been received by us. Once funds have been cleared you will receive the confirmation email that your booking is now approved.

How can I manage my booking

you sure can, our awesome online booking system lets you sign up for an account so that you can log in at any time and see and change your bookings, see your invoices and payments. You can even submit “reviews” and add tours to a “wish list” plus heaps more. It is a great handy feature of our booking system..

Can I change my booking

You sure can, simply jump online and log into your account and change the booking.

What if I need to cancel

We know that sometimes things don’t plan out so you are able to cancel your booking at anytime. To cancel your booking simply log into your account on our site and on your dashboard select the tour and cancel it. Is there cancellation fees

Yes. The cancellation fee can vary and the amount is set according to how far out you cancel before the tour departure date. Please see our booking terms and conditions for our cancellation fee’s and conditions. Please see section 2.9 at this link, https://mtbtours.com.au/terms-and-conditions/

What are the terms and conditions

One of the most important pieces of information on our site. Under Australian consumer laws we need to have a terms and conditions policy. This policy covers the consumer (you) and the seller (us) and forms the contract between you and us. We have made our policy easy to read, clear, fair and lawful. Mountain Bikes

What type of mountain bike is needed

Because we offer both touring and downhill/single track we recommend using, a hardtail for the easier fun touring tours and a dual suspension for the downhill and single track tours.

Can you BYO mountain bike

Yes you can. We allow all our guests to bring their own bike on any tour.

Can you hire a mountain bike

Yes you can hire one from us. We only have bike hire for our easier fun touring tours. We use quality modern Trek mountain bikes only. We have touring (3×9 speed 29 inch hardtail). Unfortunately we do not hire dual suspension bikes on our downhill/single track tours as this stage.

What is the bike hire cost

Bike hire costs are: 1. Hardtail MTB, from $50 per day (for day tours) or up to $220 max (for a multi-day tours). See all our bike hire at this link, https://mtbtours.com.au/mountain-bike-hire/

Can you supply SPD type clip in peddles

Yes we have Shimano SPD clip in type peddles available for FREE if you hire one of our bikes. If you BYO bike there is a small $25 charge for the duration of the tour.

Can I bring my own peddles or seat

Yes you can. We will fit any seat or peddles for you onto our hire bike and set you all up for no charge.

Premium wide comfy bike seat

If you prefer a bit of extra comfort then we have premium wide padded seats available for Free with any bike hire from us. If you BYO bike and want a comfy seat there is a small $20 charge for the duration of the tour.

Payment

What payment options are available

We offer a number of fast and secure payment options. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex and direct bank deposit. Please note, we do not accept PayPal payments due to their high extremely high (2.4%) surcharge fee.

How much deposit do I need to pay

No deposit is required for day tours or shuttle bookings. A 20% deposit is required for all multi-day tours.

When is the balance due

– For multi-day tours, final payment is due 30 days before the tour departure date. A reminder email will be sent.
– For shuttles and day tours, final payment is due at the time of making a booking.

How can I check my balance and payments

Simple, just sign into your online account on our website and from your dashboard you are able to check payments and balances.

Do you charge credit card surcharge fee's

Yes we do, to keep our prices low we need to pass on this small fee. If you make a payment using Visa, Mastercard or Amex the surcharge fee is 1.75%. This fee is what we as a business get charged to process the payment from Stripe. There is NO fee’s for paying by direct bank transfer.

Accommodation

Is accommodation included

Yes, all accommodation is included in the price for all of our multi day tours.

What type of accommodation is included

The type of accommodation differs from tour to tour and different packages are available within the tour. We have the standard accomodation package staying mainly in local small country motels/hotels/cottages (on a twin share basis with a single supplement upgrade available). We also offer a budget package were we stay at lodges, bunkhouse style budget rooms on certain tours.

Do you offer single supplement

Yes we sure do. We offer single supplement on every tour were we can. Simply select the “single supplement” tour package on booking

Do you mix males with females

No we do not mix genders unless both guests agree or request to share the same room

Toilet and showers

Most of our accomodation will have room ensuite bathroom facilities but occasionally some accommodation might have seperate shared bathrooms. A list of our types of accommodation and what bathroom facilities available are;
1. Motels – private ensuite’s,
2. Hotels – shared bathrooms,
3. Cottages – shared bathrooms,
4. Holiday House’s – both ensuite’s and shared bathrooms
5. Bunkhouse’s – shared bathrooms.

Is bedding and towels suppled

Yes, most nights our accomodation rooms will come with made beds with clean linen and towels. Our budget accomodations may have only basic bedding supplied with no towel. It is recommended to bring your own towel.

Laundry Facilities

All of our accommodation places have washing machines and dryers for you to use. Please note there may be coins needed to operate at your own expense.

Meals

What meals are included

All meals are included;
– For multi day tours, all breakfasts (full continental), lunches (cold meats, fresh salads, breads/wraps and condiments), morning teas (tea, coffee and cake) and dinners (2 course restaurant meals, pizza nights, BBQ nights and guide cooked dinners) are all included.
– For day tours, morning tea (tea, coffee and cake) and lunch are included.

*Cycling snacks, fruit, water and cordial (drink flavour) are also included on every tour.

Do you cater for vegetarians

Yes we do. When you book online it will ask you if you require any special dietary requirements. We will do our best to cater for your needs.

What is for breakfast

A fresh daily full continental style breakfast is provided and consists of, assorted cereals, milk, toast (bread), spreads, juice, tea/coffee and fruit.

What is for morning tea

We supply morning tea daily usually at about 10 am once the morning ride is complete. Tea, coffee with fresh milk, cake and fruit is served.

What is for lunch

A fresh and healthy assortment of cold meats, salads, bread/wraps, cheese and condiments are provided.

What do we do for dinner

All dinners are included, prepared and cooked for you. The types of dinners are a mix of 2 course restaurant meals, pizza nights, BBQ nights and guide cooked dinners.

Drinking water

We supply unlimited drinking water and cordial (drink flavour) on all tours.

Shuttle departure locations

Departures from Derby – shuttles depart from out front of the post office on the main st in Derby.
Departure from Weldborough – shuttles depart from the small carpark across from the Weldborough Pub.

*Please arrive 10 minutes before due departure time.

What if your running late

If you are running late for your booked shuttle service please text your name & estimated arrival time to 043 769 6060 and we will try to wait for you or book you on the next available shuttle.

What if its raining & trail closures

Raining – all our shuttle services still operate during inclement weather as long as the trails are officially open. It is fun to ride on these days, you come back covered in mud with a big grin.

Tail closures – certain trails may be closed at short notice due to maintenance or weather. We usually only find out the same time as you do as the council who own and run the Blue Derby trails doesn’t have a system to let operators know, we find out ourselves from checking the site or other sources and will let our booked guests know as as soon as we do..

Does the shuttles bus have a tyre pump

Yes, all our shuttle buses have a quality tubeless type bike pump that you can use.
